Threadbare

The pandemic brought a collective experience that left many grieving, and “threadbare” as the title of this piece suggests. As an artist, I found myself distracted, troubled, exhausted. I filled small baskets with thread and cloth and paper, currying these items from kitchen table, to bedroom, to living area—in search of a place to create. Threadbare explores what one makes of broken creativity. I found myself working in abstract, searching for meaning amidst broken schedules, online schooling, and an art space displaced. The weaving, with its loose threads, stretched tightly around a hoop, or cradle of sorts, was my way of marking the weariness of those who still wait for answers of how to make their way in spaces where research has yet to give answers.
